We had a wonderful stay at The New Hotel in Kumamoto. The location was perfect, right next to the JR station, making it easy for us to explore the city. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a fantastic city view. The shower had excellent water pressure and the mini-fridge was a convenient addition. The hotel's efforts towards sustainability were commendable, limiting housekeeping options while still providing us with clean towels, robes, and toiletries. I highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant and convenient stay in Kumamoto.

Eating at their restaurant was very disappointing. Service was bad and small amount of food for the high price. Staff at the restaurant was not friendly and not service oriented. "Chocolate syrup" for the pancake was mislabled (it was Stake souce) and made me sick. It's was awful! I could not eat anything after taking a bite of it. They should not have charge for the food in this case.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location couldn't have been more perfect - it's just a stone's throw away from the train station and bus stop, which made it incredibly convenient for catching early buses. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, with a super large and comfortable bed. I was impressed by how clean and comfortable everything was, and I only wish I had more time to truly enjoy it. The price was also very reasonable, especially considering the level of comfort I experienced.
I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the breakfast selection was delicious.

Place was luxury and comfy, greatly enjoyed the stay.
Our location was great by the shopping mall with various good restaurants. Moreover, it's not far from train station and tram routes as well as a bus stop.

* Professional staff and good facility * Nice room very comfortable * Location close to JR Kumamoto and tram
* Restaurants in the hotel very overpriced; we did the Teppanyaki and compared to what I am used to (I regularly have this) this is very poor and expensive.

Just 1min walk from Kumamoto jr Station. It is convenient to take public transit such as jr, ground tram and bus. It takes about 15mins from the hotel to central area by ground tram. Since I booked the rooms 2months before my trip, the price was really favorable. O(∩_∩)o

I like its name "New Otani" but the Kumamoto hotel is inferior to the Hakata New Otani which a little disappointed me.
We were disturbed by the neighbouring room noise at midnight and could not sleep well on Dec.22-23,2011.

Great Location and Helpful Staff
We absolutely loved our city trip and the hotel we stayed at. the hotel's location was amazing and provided us with easy access to public transport, shopping, and dining options. The train and tram stations were just a stone's throw away, making our daily sightseeing tours super convenient. Plus, the staff at the hotel was extremely helpful, patient, and polite. They assisted us in finding the best routes to our planned destinations and recommended some top-rated restaurants.
That the hotel did not allow any outside food and drinks, which was inconvenient and forced us to either eat at their expensive restaurant or dine out. However, this did not spoil our overall experience, as we managed to find some great places to eat nearby.

This hotel truly impressed me with its attention to detail. From the spacious rooms with an extra bed, to the convenient location right beside JR station, everything was thoughtfully designed for the comfort of the guests. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service, and the basic amenities were well-maintained. Additionally, the breakfast offered a delightful start to the day.
All in all, I had an enjoyable stay and found everything to be satisfactory.
